Bowmore sits on the shores of Loch Indaal in the heart of Islay, and has been distilling there since 1779 — making it the island’s oldest distillery. Its 12 Year Old is the classic introduction to the house style: matured for at least twelve years in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, it balances Islay peat smoke with honeyed sweetness and bright citrus.

Where some Islay malts lead with heavy, medicinal smoke, Bowmore takes a more measured approach. The peat is there, but it is woven gently through layers of lemon, honey and rich dark chocolate, making this one of the most approachable and well-rounded smoky whiskies you can buy.
